T WERE modernized. T evolved into personal computers. I started out with a manual portable typewriter in high school. Had what looked like an IBM Selectric typewriter on the desktop and a big box on the floor beside it that recorded text on a magnetic card—1–1/3 pages per card. What a wonderful device! I could take my secretary’s typed pages, edit them and annotate them and she could have the corrected pages back on my desk in a few minutes without having to retype everything! And so it went. It’s probably been nearly fifty years since the last time I tried to use my Olympia portable, and at least thirty years since I’ve laid hands on ANY typewriter!
